The MM3877 series is a high-voltage CMOS-based IC for over-charge, over-discharge, over-current and short-circuit temperature protection and cell balance control of 4 to 7 cells Li-ion/Li-polymer rechargeable batteries.
It also has a temperature detection and cell balance control function using an external NTC thermistor.
The internal structure consists of voltage detectors, reference voltage sources, oscillator circuits, counter circuits and logical circuits.
Multiple MM3877s can be stacked in order to provide low-cost, space-saving protection circuits for applications with 7 or more cells.
